This course is designed to prepare trainees for environments requiring defensive firearms employment in dynamic environments. Students will be exposed to safely engage targets while moving, utilizing cover and concealment, rapid reloads, and making decisions in high-stress situations.
Only students who have completed FFA 1 to FFA 5 classes are permitted to take the Course. Students may also take bridging courses, depending on their assessed level of proficiency.
The Course is divided into 5 Classes, namely:
Introduction to Tactical Shooting (TCS 0)
Principles of Tactical Shooting (TCS 1)
Dynamics of Defensive Shooting (TCS 2)
Introduction to Close-Quarter Battle (TCS 3)
Culmination Activity (TCS 4)
Introduction to Tactical Shooting
Class Code: TCS 0
In Introduction to Tactical Shooting, a classroom style lecture will cover defensive shooting principles, the legality of use of force, and equipment setup and selection. (Classroom lecture only, no firearms necessary)
Principles of Tactical Shooting
Class Code: TCS 1
In Principles of Tactical Shooting, trainees are taught drawstroke fundamentals, emergency and tactical reloads, and malfunction clearing. Trainees are also taught to engage targets in defensive distances.
Dynamics of Defensive Shooting
Class Code: TCS 2
In Dynamics of Defensive Shooting, trainees are taught tactical movement principles, cover versus concealment, threat identification and prioritization. Trainees will also be exposed to positioned shooting stances.
Introduction to Close-Quarter Battle
Class Code: TCS 3
In Introduction to Close Quarters Battle (CQB), trainees are introduced to CQB concepts, principles, and decision-making in close environments. The orientation of this class will revolve around home defense settings.
Culmination Activity
Class Code: TCS 4
The Culmination Activity class will be a CQB simulation where a “capture the flag” objective is provided for trainees. Trainees will be assessed on proper application of the learned principles while also meeting the course objectives.
